Le Rhone Horology Tourbillon QP Retrograde 10th-Anniversary

A complex anniversary watch with great names behind its design and mechanics.

Le Rhöne was founded 10 years ago by Loïc Florentin and Timo Rajakoski. The independent watchmaking brand has released a double retrograde perpetual calendar tourbillon to celebrate this anniversary. Its movement is the result of an original joint engineering project that brought together two of the best high-end movement specialists, Agenhor and Le Cercle des Horlogers. Renowned watch designer Eric Giroud was solicited for the looks of the model.

This anniversary watch is presented in the Horology collection, whose case was redesigned by Eric Giroud for the occasion. With a 45mm size, the model has been modernized with streamlined lines and a larger dial aperture. Its construction combines platinum for the upper parts such as the bezel, the two cover plates, and the caseback, with grade 5 titanium for the case sides. This original mix allows using platinum while keeping a reasonable weight.

For its engine, Le Rhöne sparked an original collaboration between two high-end movement makers. Regulated by a one-minute flying tourbillon, the base calibre is made by Le Cercle des Horlogers and drives a perpetual calendar designed and made by Agenhor. This allows the creation of a unique layout for the midnight blue opaline dial. The day and date are retrograde indications. A discreet opening shows the month a leap year at 12 o’clock. Last, the propeller shape flying tourbillon beats at 6 o’clock. Its frequency is of 3Hz and the power reserve is 72 hours.

Turning the watch over, the exhibition caseback reveals the other side of the movement with its propeller-shaped micro-rotor. The decoration is modern with dark grey micro-blasted surfaces.

The Le Rhone Horology Tourbillon QP Retrograde comes on an alligator leather strap with a titanium folding buckle. It is released in a limited edition of 10 pieces. The price is set at CHF 148,500.
