A Selection Of Sub-Zero Cool Ice-Blue Watches

Ironically, one of the hottest colours in watches this year is ice-blue.

H. Moser & Cie Pioneer Tourbillon Arctic Blue 40mm

Call it ice blue, light blue, sky blue or arctic blue, the fact of the matter is, watches with a lighter shade of blue on the dial are hot right now. So hot in fact, it seems there’s a new one coming out every other week. Are we witnessing the shift from green, which was all the rage the past few years, to a new trend colour? Either way, there have been some really cool new watches this year, all with a variation of light blue gracing the dial. Here are six of the coolest, ranging from affordable to high-end.

Tissot PRX Ice-blue

The Tissot PRX collection has been a smash hit for the brand, and one of the best versions is the 40mm size in ice blue. There’s just something very cool about it, as it captures the essence of the extremely popular integrated sports watch style, at a very reasonable price. For just EUR 745 you get the signature PRX design, backed up by the very good Powermatic 80 movement and that incredibly cool ice-blue dial. What’s not to like? The 40mm size perhaps, but we’re pretty sure this colour will make an appearance in the 35mm PRX in due time.

Louis Erard Excellence Petite Seconde Ice-Blue

Louis Erard loves to play around with textures, materials and colours. In the compact Excellence Petite Seconde sub-collection comes a refreshingly cool ice-blue watch, limited to an annual production of 100 to 150 pieces. The light blue dial is finished with darker blue applied indices and hands for a nice contrast. Under the sapphire caseback, we see the Sellita SW261-1, with élaboré grade finishing. To finish it all off, Louis Erard has fitted a light blue leather strap to it. At EUR 2,222 it’s a step up from the Tissot, but still relatively affordable.

Bell & Ross BR 05 GMT Sky Blue

The BR 05 by Bell & Ross is a softer, toned-down take on the emblematic circle-in-a-square design, aimed at the urban jungle. With time-and-date, chronographs and GMT models, there’s plenty to choose from, including this cheerful Sky Blue version. The sunray-brushed dial has applied markers and hands and has a sloped flange in silver and white for the GMT display. The central hand is partially finished in blue with a triangular tip. The BR-CAL.325 that powers it is based on the Sellita SW330. Seen here on the rubber strap, it’s also available on a steel bracelet, which ups the price from EUR 5,200 to EUR 5,700.

Zenith Defy Skyline Ice-Blue

The Zenith Defy Skyline Ice-Blue is another luxury sports watch with an integrated design that follows the light blue trend. The edgy style of the case, complete with a 12-sided bezel pops even more thanks to the new ice-blue dial and matching rubber strap. The 41mm version still comes with the 1/10th of a seconds indication and of course the starry pattern on the dial. The El Primero 3620 movement can be seen through the caseback and is driven by a star-shaped rotor. Supplied with both an integrated steel bracelet and a blue rubber strap, it retails for CHF 8,900.

The angular case is finished with brushed and Zaratsu-polished surfaces for a sporty look. The snowy texture of the dial is finished with a very subtle icy blue colour and applied hour markers and hands. Around the back, you can see the Calibre 9SA5 working away diligently. H. Moser & Cie Pioneer Tourbillon Arctic Blue

We’re jumping up a few steps in terms of complexity, with the compact 40mm H. Moser & Cie Pioneer Tourbillon in Arctic Blue. This comes with an incredible fumé dial, a signature trait for most, if not all Moser watches. The tone is a bit darker compared to others on this list but still evokes visions of the Arctic. The exposed tourbillon escapement of the in-house Calibre HMC 804 pokes through at 6 o’clock, with the rest of the mechanical marvel seen through the caseback. It comes with a hefty price tag of CHF 49,900 and is delivered on either rubber, textile or leather straps or a stainless steel bracelet.

  1. Carl F. Bucherer Patravi ScubaTec Maldives is one of the coolest ice-blue watches IMO. Far too underrated and unknown.

  2. You can stop promoting that Zenith now, contrary to its predecessor, it doesn’t deserve the attention.

  3. I know that is a quite soft budget watch, but the Citizen “Unite With Blue” with dial pigmentation developed by Fuji, is really anazing!! My opinion, of course …
